although kakashi is not part of a clan, he holds a bloodline limit (kekkei genkai) outside of the bloodline traits family. in his left eye (covered by his headband), kakashi is the owner of one sharingan eye. the jōnin is able to use the sharingan eye, but his stamina and chakra are quickly drained while using it because kakashi is not a pure blood uchiha.

the sharingan is the bloodline trait to konohagakure's uchiha clan. the uchiha clan was one of two clans in konoha that held a dōjutsu kekkei genkai (the other being the hyūga clan and their byakugan bloodline). the sharingan is a eye technique that is only acquired when one of the uchiha is in a state of fright or in a scene where one must awaken their inner abilities. the sharingan is able to copy ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu abilities of the user's opponents. as the sharingan is able to do this, it cannot copy the opponent's bloodline abilites if he or she does have one. this is because a bloodline limit is merely passed down from one generation to another in one's clan.

in overall appearence, when the uchiha has deactivated their sharingan, the eye is it's normal color (usually onyx or black). however, when the dōjutsu is activated, the eye quickly flickers to a crimson red; and the eye shows a number of tomoe in the eye.

at the starter stage of the sharingan, when the uchiha first awakens the sharingan, the eyes contain of one tomoe each. this tomoe allows the user to copy one's taijutsu's attacks, whether it is a special technique or a simple melee combo.

in the second state, the eyes of the uchiha develop two tomoe. just like the form before it, the eye is crimson red and the second tomoe allows the user to copy genjutsu; whether it is a genjutsu attack or a canceling genjutsu ability.

and in the third state; one can use three tomoe and copy ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu. also, in the third state the sharingan can read the opponents movements quickly, and then anticipate it by thinking of a counter once knowing the probability of the opponent's attack. the three tomoe state can develop into the mangekyō sharingan.

the rare ability in the uchiha clan, the mangekyō sharingan is the final level of achievement to the sharingan. in this state, the uchiha user can control time, space, and movement in the world of 'tsukuyomi'. in this alternate world, one can cause pain and torture to his or her opponent and make it seem it happened in a long period of time, but in reality it happened in a matter of seconds or minutes. the tsukuyomi is a technique that is only been able to use with the mangekyō.

however, the mangekyō cannot be obtained so easily. there is only one known way to acquire the mangekyō ; and that is to kill the user's closet friend. when this happens, one can use the mangekyō. in the uchiha clan, when the user uses the mangekyō often, he or she can start losing their sight; to the point of going blind. this is why when one has the mangekyō, he or she may literally take the sharingan eyes of another clan member and take them as their own; creating an 'eternal' mangekyō. this was discovered by the founding uchiha member, madara.

due to the ability of the sharingan, the uchiha clan was able to fend off attackers to the village and were candidates that helped established the konoha military police corps. the local sign for the uchiha clan was a fan, because uchiha is the same as uchiwa, which is a fan. the fan was also chosen because of the clan's ties to fire and that the wind from a fan could spread the burning blaze.

the uchiha clan was a clan that specialized in katōn (fire release) attacks. jutsu such as 'katōon: gōkayū no jutsu' is a specialty technique for the uchiha. this is a technique taught to the younger uchiha members to symbolize the one who can master the jutsu as an adult. this was a tradition that was past down from the clan.

Thousand Birds A jutsu that Kakashi created, he teaches it to Uchiha Sasuke, his student during the Squad 7 days at the time, who had abused its use. The jutsu is lightning chakra that’s held within the palm of the users hand, and with immense speed, able to almost plunge it into anything.

Raikiri
Lighting Blade The Raikiri is the advanced version of the Chidori. As referred to the name, the Raikiri is just as similar as the Chidori, but the Raikiri is able to split lightning as the name suggests.

Shinobi Conjuration Earth Release: Fanged Vengence Technique
By using a scroll, performing a string of various ahnd signs, Kakashi is able to summon his ninken, or nin-pups. They're used for tracking, but Pakkun is one of the most frequently one seen.

Mizu Bushin no Jutsu
Water Clone Technique During the Water Country Arc, Kakashi copies this jutsu from Kirigakure’s Rouge Ninja Momochi Zabuza, using the clone against the user. This jutsu differs from the regular Bushin no Jutsu, which is just a illusional clone, while this clone is made of water, or moisture from the air.

Suiton: Daibakufu no Jutsu
Water Release: Giant Vortex Jutsu This was also a jutsu that Kakashi had copied from Zabuza. By performing a long string of hand signs, the impact of a giant vortex like water would almost drown you. This also may flood the area, but in cases its used for the offensive, and at times the defensive.

Sution: Suiryuudan no Jutsu
Water Release: Water Dragon Blast The user is able to aim a large water dragon towards the opponent. The jutsu requires 54 hand signs, at least 5 times more than a normal jutsu.

Great Water Wall The jutsu is used to block attacks from all directions , most likely in a 360 degree.

Sution: Suikodan no Jutsu

The user is allowed to aim water created sharks at his or her opponent, from all directions. The amount of sharks seen depends on the amount of chakra the user is using.

Rasengan
Spiraling Sphere
The Rasengan is a unfinished jutsu created by Namikaze Minato, the Yondaime Hokage. The jutsu requires no hand signs, and uses 3 kinds of training; Power, Control, Rotation. Also, the jutsu needs a consistent amount of chakra to work. Kakshi was unable to really grasp the techique, he tries merging his lightning chakra with it, but fails. Thats how he got the idea of the Chidori.

Appearance --
kakashi is a man on thirty two, although others assume he is older just because of his hair color. on looks alone, kakashi looks like one of those odd, mysterious figures that one thinks about a lot.

in his younger days, kakashi was always wearing a thin, fabric of a mask covering the bridge of his nose, parts of his ears and his mouth. the mask was given to him at birth or sometime at a young age by his father hatake sakumo. his attire back then was a black and white shirt long sleeved shirt and arm guards that went up to his elbow. kakashi also sported a pair of black sweatpants that ended at his shins, where the rest of his legs were bandaged up and he wore the standard black shinobi sandals. his headband was worn right on his forehead, with several stray strands of slate grey hair in between his eyes. his shuriken holster was strapped to his left thigh, where he could access a kunai or a shuriken with his right hand. after receiving the sharingan in his left eye, kakashi slide down his head to cover his eye; to prevent using the sharingan without his knowing.

later on, as kakashi grew older he had changed attires when he entered the anbu black ops. he sported the body-hugging sleeveless shirt and black sweatpants. his pants ended at his shins were his legs were bandaged the rest of the way. by the time he went to anbu, kakashi had a tattoo on his left bicep that symbolized him as anbu as well. kakashi's black ops mask was worn to the side of his head, just above his right ear. also, kakashi had a katana that was strapped to his back for easy access. and yes, the man still wore that stupid mask. those days, kakashi had not worn his headband on his forehead, so he kept his left eye (with the sharingan) closed at all times until combat.

kakashi was later ranked as a jōnin and was fitted into a more durable and comfortable jōnin attire. a green vest with three scroll pockets on each side of the zipper, kakashi kept the vest zippered up and also wore a matching pair of black sweats. and just like before, his headband covers his left eye at all times. when kakashi needs his sharingan for battle he slides his headband up so it is even on his forehead. always walking around with an aloof attitude, kakashi is usually never seen with his mask off.

Personality --
Kakashi is one of the laid back kind of people. He prefers to be late to this, such as the during the Genin Days of Squad 7, late for Team Meetings and likes, usually using the same excuses Obito, Kakashi’s deceased teammate, would use when he was a young lad. Kakashi can be serious, but when he is at times, you can’t really tell. Kakashi’s personality changed during the Kakashi Gaiden until now. During the Kakashi Gaiden, Kakashi was a young boy who believed in the Ninja Rules no matter what. This was proved when Rin, Kakashi’s other teammate, was capture; while Obito had told Kakashi that they should go rescue her. Kakashi had told Obito to forget her; as he thinks the mission is more important, at the moment. After Obito’s death saving Rin, Kakashi was someone who was just like Obito now. As said in the preivous paragraph, he takes on the habits of being late, and using such excuses from Obito.

History --
At a young age, Kakashi's father, Hatake Sakumo, had commit suicide due to a failed mission, rescueing his friends, instead of thecompletion of the mission. With this, Kakashi swore to follow the Ninja Rules, every single one. And that was to follow through the mission instead of just merely saving his comrades. But all of this was wrong for the boy.

Kakashi was assigned to Namikaze Minato's team, before Minato become the Yondaime Hokage, of course. Also on the squad was Uchiha Obito, Kakashi's opposite and rival, and Rin; the medic-nin of the group. They were known as Team Minato.

Kakashi and Obito were always fighting; much like Sasuke and Naruto bickering during their young days. Kakashi was much like Sasuke, and Obito was like Naruto. Rin was always trying to stop the two, Team Minato was much like Team 7.

When the team was on a mission in Grass Country to destroy one ofthe bridges, Kakashi was promoted to Jounin just before this. His sensei, Minato, gave Kakashi one of his special Kunai while Rin gave him a medical supply kit. Seeing that Obito was late, Kakashi could care less. Minato calms the 2 down, and then they head off.

While on the journey to the bridge, the team is met up with a Iwagakure Shinobi, and Kakashi went to defend himself. About to activating his new jutsu, the Chidori. Until Minato stopped the young jounin, telling him about being rash. But in the end, the Iwa Shinobi had made Kage Bushin, and when Kakashi used the chidori even if Minato had declined the use of it, Kakashi hit a clone. The real enemy ninja had stabbed Kakashi near his shoulder.

Minato successfully rescues the hesitating Obito,and the injured Kakashi, while attaching a special tag to the Iwagakure Shinobi's foot. With this, the blonde had left the group in a safe area while he would fight the enemy shinobi. The Iwagakure ninja cursed before dying that he's should've followed the rule of the 'flee-on-sight' name, Namikaze.

When Minato returns, he sees that the group at each other's throats. Kakashi was critizising on how Obito hesitated on the batle field eariler that day, and Minato tells Kakashi never to use the Chidori again, due to its inherant flaw. Kakashi's eyes were not trained enough to determine enemy moves to counter the jutsu, leaving the young jounin in danger. Minato decides rest is needed. Obito, who was haunted by that day's events, looks for Minato, asking why does Kakashi act like he does. The answer was that when Kakashi's father, Hatake Sakumo, had commit suicide after returning from a mission, without completing it, after being looked down by the village.

The team splits up into 2 groups, Kakashi leading Rin and Obito, Minato is off by himself. They head in different directions, and come across a detour when their teammate Rin is capture by 2 new Iwagakure Shinobi. Obito demands that himself and Kakashi should go after her; while Kakashi differs, saying they shouldn't take the detour of rescueing Rin, as they should complete the mission; doing what his father didn't do.

Obito gets angered, as he leaves without Kakashi in the direction of where Rin went, saying " Those in the ninja world who don't follow the rules is trash, but those who leave behind their comrades, are lower than trash. " Leaving Kakashi to stand there, thinking. But he goes off to the direction of the bridge.

While Obito tries to fend off the enemy, Kakashi comes in and says that Obito can't take them on his own, but when Kakashi blocks one attack from the rock nin, he loses his left eye in the process.

Seeing Obito focus and activate his Sharingan, Kakashi is surprised, and Obito is able to kill one of 2 Rock Ninja. The other, Kakashi and Obito come to a cave to save the weakening Rin from Kakko, the other rock shinobi. After attacking Kakko various times, the 3 caused the cave to collasped, and Obito pushed Kakashi out of the way; residing in Obito's entire right side of his body crushed under a boulder, his left side only to be seen.

As a gift, Obito gives Kakashi his left eye with the Sharingan in it, as a late gift for Kakashi's promotion as a jounin. Kakashi now regrets that he was a unworthy leader, but Obito diagrees.

With his newly perfected Chidori attack, Kakashi emerges and successfully kills Kakko, and as more Rock Ninja appear, Kakashi and Rin were forced to run, but Kakashi gets angered. He runs back to fight them off, charging another Chidori and preparing the kunai Mianto gave him. The enemy tries hitting him, Kakashi throws he kunai, but due to chakra exhaustion he passes out. When he awakens, he sees his sensei and all of the dead Iwa Shinobi.

To the conclusion of Kakashi Gaiden, Team Minato remembers Obito as a honorable ninja and he'll do great things for Kakashi in the future [ referring to his Sharingan, as said in the manga, Obito claims his eye will be Kakashi's eye and they'll be one. ]

During the Genin days of Squad 7, Kakashi was the sensei of Haruno Sakura, Uzumaki Naruto, and Uchiha Sasuke. Kakashi took on the personality of Obito, being late and using lame excuses many times, when Kakshi visits the Memorial Stone every day, being late to meeting his team.

Kakashi was also the one who had fought Momochi Zabuza during the Wave Country Arc. During Kakashi and Zabuza's first encounter in the series, Kakashi reveals the Sharingan behind his headband, surprising everyone. He fends off Zabuza, and towards the end it had seemed like to Zabuza that Kakashi was predicting the future. Technically, yes and no.

At the second encounter, Kakashi is unable to help Naruto or Sasuke while they are preocupied with Haku, in his crystal ice mirrors. Kakashi is first shown using his original jutsu, Raikiri, instead of a copied jutsu, killing Haku instead of Zabuza. In the final end, Zabuza is actually killed by the swords of Gatou's men.

During the Chuunin Exam Arc, Kakashi had little parts. Such as, Kakashi was the one who greeted Team 7 at the First Exam, he sealed Sasuke's Heaven Curse Seal so that it stays in control, teaches Sasuke the Chidori, and arrives late to the Final Exam with Sasuke. Also, it was seen that Kakashi helped fight off the Suna and Oto shinobi that invaded Konoha during the Final Exams.

Kakashi is also seem during the Rescue Sasuke Arc, after Sasuke escapes leaving Naruto in the running stream. He uses Pakkun to help track down Naruto, and return him to Konoha.

During Shippuden, Kakashi meets up with the grown Naruto and Sakura, and eventually Sasuke. He has Naruto and Sakura take the Bell test once again, seeing that their teamwork had changed incredibly. Before, Sakura had always ignored Naruto and tried to help Sasuke, now the two were like in synch.

As the Akatsuki start appearing reoccuringly, Kakashi is seen battling most of the time. At the current are arc, Kakashi is with a 8 mansquad hunting down Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Sasuke.

There were no words spoken, just silence. The figure of a man and a memorial stone in the distance, the odd feeling of remorse welled up and there was a sigh, released from its owner's.

The man who had his hands shoved inside his pockets stared at the stone, his eyes looking onto one engraved name. The name that meant so much to him, that he would always be staring at it. Almost as if he was squinting, the man with the lean-to silver hair took a calm deep breath.

It was a good day, the sun was shining and everyone was outside. However, the days would always be long and regretful for the Copy Ninja. How had he gained that nickname anyway? Sharingan no Kakashi. Of course, everyone knew that Kakashi was not of the Uchiha Clan, the clan that wieled the Sharingan; so how did he recieve in the first place?

Flashback Begins Here

"Kakashi-kun! Help!"

The sharp cry of Rin had rang in the young 13 year old's ear. Quickly running to her side, Kakashi breathed heavily and bit his lower lip. The mask he wore was just slightly ripped, but his left eye was severely injured. Looking at a large boulder in front of him and Rin, he gave a sharp gasp.

"K-Kakashi...Rin...You're alright, good..."

Kakashi could only stare at the other teammate, trapped underneath a large boulder that crushed the right side of his body. "O-Obito...What happened?" Kakashi asked, his voice shaky and rasped from the recent fight. The Iwagakure shinobi were unconcious for the time being, but not for too long. He stared at the fallen Uchiha, wondering how the cave had collasped.

"There's no time for that now, Kakashi-teme. Rin, hurry up and take my left eye and give it to Kakashi! Hurry, while the Iwagakure ninja are down."

That had surprised both of them, Kakashi stared at Obito long and hard. Shocked, he glanced at Rin; she was shaking and looked uncertain about this. The Yondaime Hokage was no where found, what was there left to do? Kakashi had no idea what to do at the moment, either keep fighting or help Obito.

"Stop hesitating and just do it! I'll be fine, don't worry!"

Obito's shout cleared Kakashi out of his thoughts, and Rin immediately kneeled down beside the Uchiha, gesturing Kakashi do the same. Would he really be able to use his left eye? Kakashi's left eye had been injured and he didn't know what to do. Taking a deep breath before kneeling down, Kakashi would respect Obito's decision.

"...Whatever you say, Obito."

The death of a friend was an important loss to Kakashi, whenever coming to the memorial stone with his name engraved on it sickened him. What had he done to deserve this? He knew he was naive then, but had he really done anything to do this? Was it somesort of a lesson? Of course, it was perhaps the lesson of friends. His father, Hatake Sakumo had saved his friends instead of finishing the mission. That was something to follow.
